Hello Families!
We have been busy this week with November’s exciting curriculum! We began our study on North America. Ms. Jessie shared fun stories of her time growing up in Mexico as a little girl. She brought in clay pots, a beautiful hand sewn dress, and sugar skulls which Ms. Jessie told us they make around the time of Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead, a time to celebrate loved ones that have passed). She introduced us to her favorite artist, Frida Khalo, and showed us pictures of her art. Ms. Julie spoke about her time growing up in Costa Rica. She brought in lots of colorful clothing, artifacts, and music to share. We saw a video about the animals, culture and landscape in Costa Rica.
In P1 we have talked about pictographs, plants and animals of the desert. This week our Kindergartners went to visit Red Rock Canyon. We are so excited to hear about the things they discovered and desert plants and/or animals they saw! We are excited to see our older friends give lessons to the young ones. This opportunity teaches so many positive things to the children. We hope you enjoy some of the lovely photos we have taken of them working together.
We hope everyone has seen our new garden boxes in the front courtyard. We will be planting in our box this Friday, 11/22.
Don’t forget about the Holiday Bizarre tomorrow from 12-5pm in the multi-purpose room to help support the local community.
Reminder: P1 will be dismissed at 11:15am next Wednesday, November 27th to begin our Thanksgiving Holiday. School will be closed the following Thursday 11/28 and Friday 11/29.
Enjoy your long, holiday weekend, Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Ms. Jessie, Ms. Brianna, Ms. Julie
