Hello P1 Families

September is going so well for everyone in Primary 1. We appreciate all the parents who came to our orientation night last week. We hope you all find things well with the new changes and healthier choices we are making here at FMS. This week we talked about Parts of a Plant. Ms. Jessie had some exciting lessons explaining what seeds are, how important they are in our world and which seeds are edible. We got to sample pomegranate seeds! We then discussed the function of roots and which roots we can eat that are full of nutrition. We got to try radishes and carrots. Ms. Brianna introduced us to the function of a stem and vines, we ate celery. The last two introductions were the leaf and fruit, or flower. We got to sample cabbage and an apple! 🙂 This was an exciting hands on lesson for our friends. So when grocery shopping and your child asks for a root or stem to eat, they may be asking you to buy radishes or celery!

Don’t forget to log in and check out the outdoor classroom blog. Ms. Val, Ms. Marian and Ms. Kelly have captured some great photos of your children working outside.

Thank you for visiting our blog. Tomorrow (9/13) is our new parent coffee meet and on Tuesday (9/17) is the first PTO meeting!

Have a great weekend!
